This policy explains how Assistly ("Assistly", "we", "us") collects and uses information when you use assistlychat.com, the Assistly dashboard, and the Assistly chat widget that businesses place on their websites.
There are two groups of people this policy covers:
When a visitor chats on a customer's website, that customer decides why the conversation is collected and how it is used; we process it on the customer's behalf. Visitors with questions about how a specific business uses their information should contact that business directly.
From customers:
From visitors (through the chat widget):
Automatically: basic technical data needed to run and protect the service, such as IP address (used for rate limiting and abuse prevention), browser type, and server logs.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use visitors' conversations to advertise to them.
Chat replies are generated by artificial intelligence. To produce a reply, the visitor's message, recent conversation history and relevant parts of the customer's business information are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI). AI answers can be wrong; important information should be confirmed with the business directly.
We share information only with service providers that help us run Assistly, and only as needed:
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a sale or merger of the business.
The dashboard uses one essential cookie to keep customers signed in. The chat widget stores a conversation identifier in the visitor's browser (local storage) for 24 hours. We do not use advertising cookies.
Conversations, leads and business content are kept while the customer's account is active, unless the customer deletes them sooner (customers can delete conversations, leads and knowledge items from the dashboard). After an account is closed, we delete or anonymise its data, except where we must keep it longer by law. You can ask us to delete your account's data at any time by emailing support@assistlychat.com.
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, secure sign in sessions, separation of each customer's data, and rate limiting. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or limit certain processing. Customers can do much of this in the dashboard. Visitors should contact the business they chatted with first; you can also contact us and we will help or pass your request to that business.
Assistly is a business service and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect children's personal information.
Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries.
We may update this policy. If the changes are significant, we will tell customers by email or in the dashboard before they take effect.
