Install the chat on WordPress

Add your chat code with a free header-and-footer plugin.

The easiest way is a free plugin that adds code to your site's footer. These steps use WPCode (it used to be called "Insert Headers and Footers").

  1. In Assistly, open Widget and click Copy code.
  2. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New.
  3. Search for WPCode, click Install Now, then Activate.
  4. Go to Code Snippets → Header & Footer.
  5. Paste your code in the Footer box.
  6. Click Save Changes.
  7. Open your website and look for the chat bubble in the corner.
On WordPress.com (not self-hosted WordPress), adding plugins needs a plan that allows plugins. If your plan doesn't, ask WordPress.com support where you can add footer code.

If your theme has its own "footer scripts" or "custom code" setting, you can paste the code there instead. Don't paste it inside a page's text editor: most editors remove scripts.
