Publish a help center

Turn your Questions & answers into a public help page with search, its own link for every answer and your chat on it.

Your Questions & answers can also be a public help page for your customers: a clean page with a search box, every answer one tap away, its own link for each answer, and your Assistly chat on the page for anything it doesn't cover.

Turn it on

  1. Open Bot knowledge and scroll to Help center.
  2. Check the address. Your page lives at assistlychat.com/h/ followed by the address you pick, for example assistlychat.com/h/joes-plumbing. Use letters, numbers and single hyphens.
  3. Give it a title and a short intro if you like. Leave them empty to use your business name.
  4. Pick which questions to show: All filled in questions, or Only the ones I pick.
  5. Switch on Publish my help center and click Save help center. Click View page to see it.

Nothing is public until you switch it on. Switch it off any time and the page is gone right away (visitors get a page not found). Your settings stay saved for next time.

What the page shows

  • Only questions that have an answer. An answer that still has a [bracket] in it waits until you fill it in, and free text notes never show.
  • Your brand color from the Widget page, and your logo on plans that show a logo in the chat (Starter and up).
  • Your own chat, the same one your website uses, so visitors can ask what the page doesn't answer. Chats from the page show up in your inbox like any other.
  • A search box that filters the questions as visitors type.
  • Its own link for every answer (Link to this answer), so you can send a customer straight to it.

When you change your Questions & answers, the page follows right away. A question you delete or stop showing disappears from the page and its link stops working.

Google and other search engines

Each answer page has its own title and description, and the page tells search engines it holds questions and answers, so your answers can show up when people search for them.

Want the page for your customers only? Switch on Hide from Google. The page then asks search engines not to list it. Anyone with the link can still open it.

The Powered by Assistly link

On the Free plan the bottom of the page shows a Powered by Assistly link, just like your chat does. Plans without the link in the chat (Basic and up) don't show it on the help page either.

Your help page shows only the questions and answers you choose. It never shows your leads, chats, emails or notes.
