Ask for contact details with a form
Show a short form in the chat for a name, email or phone, before the first message or after the first answer.
Your chat can ask visitors for their name, email or phone in a short form. What they fill in is saved as a lead, and your assistant never asks for it again. It is on every plan and it is off until you turn it on.
Choose when the form shows
Open Widget and find Contact form before the chat. Pick one:
- Never: visitors start chatting right away. This is how every chat works until you change it.
- After the first answer: your assistant answers the first question, then the form shows under the answer.
- Before the first message: visitors fill in the form first, then chat.
Choose the fields
Set Name, Email and Phone to Off, Optional or Required, then click Save.
- A required field must be filled in before the chat goes on. The message box opens once the form is sent.
- With only optional fields, visitors can tap Skip, or just type their message.
- Email and phone are checked before the form is sent, so a typo shows right away.
A different choice on some pages
Under Different on a page, add up to 5 pages with their own choice, like Before the first message on your quote page or Never on your help pages. End a page with /* to include every page under it.
What you get
- A lead in Leads as soon as the form has an email or phone, with a lead alert email like any other lead.
- The name, email and phone on the conversation in your inbox.
- An assistant that already knows these details. It never asks again for what the form has, and it may greet the visitor by first name.
The form shows in your visitor's language and fits phone screens. It shows once per conversation.
